SHADOW DANCING

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

Dancing with the devil and demons of the past, present, and future until I notice that I am dancing with my shadow inside of the night's moonlight. Lately, I found myself struggling to look for the warmth of the falling sun, looking for the warmth that I can only find inside of my tired eyes and the love that I can only find inside of this place that sometimes leaves a puzzled look up upon my face.

I want to laugh because I already know how to cry. I want this crazy world just to remain silent for a while so once again without covering my mouth allowing me to smile. Let me hang that wrath on the door and for a brief moment celebrate the holidays like I did when I was a kid and had my family around. Sometimes a picture is the only sound.

Blame me for all my struggles but remember my name when they say when he left this world he was a lone sinner now he came back haunted he came back king with a song that only an angel can sing.

I lost my way so many times before that I bought all the skeleton keys to keep open that revolving door.  I am living proof that there is life after death. I am calling you hell. I am always calling you to give me air but you are not my breath.

The devil does not have horns or wear a cape and God does not sit on a throne the dance we dance is done to a song of our own
