Useless A

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Oh U.S.A. you are here today;
But you will be gone tomorrow.
With amber waves of grain and
All the money you could borrow.

You would not face reality and
You turned your back on the truth!
So, God decreed you would be cut down,
While you were in your youth!

Oh, great and mighty prostitute;
Who sits on many waters,
You slept with all the kings of earth.
And got drunk with their brothers.

You lived a life of luxury
And boasted: I won’t mourn!
But you’ve incurred the wrath of God!
And all the nations scorn!
