Father Time

The call came in the dark,
The station got interrupted,
But was it by mistake,
My mind wondered with a question mark,
Not important thoughts conducted,
But the time of the ring I couldn't shake,
Very rarely was I disturbed this late

I picked up with hesitation,
Never did i think it would lead to any  cancellation,
Words weren’t forth coming out on the other end,
The wailing I could not apprehend,
Calls to come home and say goodbye,
A funeral uniform waiting to buy.

Lying there so frail,
The medicines forming a wonderful cocktail,
Wondering how he had such a hold,
Remembering as a child feeling so scared and cold,
Negative thoughts disappear,
Being replaced by fear,
Hoping for miracles for one more day, week or year.

Fate turned the egg timer upside down,
More time to get used to the new world,
More time for more games,
Getting use to not having him around,
Fighting against the fires and flames.
