Bare Naked Feelings

Raj Chowdhury 1984 (Kolkata)

Thought, we would hold hands and tread into the promised Land,
I would rise, looking through my morning Eyes,
always to find you by my side,
Thought, the new day would dawn, with you along,
Through your eyes I would see the petrified world, coming back to life,
Thought, you would always stay, to the end of days,
Thought, you would remember me, how we used to be.

Never thought it would only be the cold breeze sweeping the dried leaves,
The black hole lacerating my soul,
Never thought, you would adorn someone else's world, and leave me alone for the cold
lonely walk,
Never thought it will only be the arms of darkness, when my head wants to rest and the body lay dead,
Always thought you would remember me, how we used to be.
