Reality

I could feel this fiery sensation
Pulsating throughout my body
I tried to breath, yet I could not

My instinct was to push through the pain
When she had thrown me in the water
I had no way of knowing what would happen

I was sinking
like a rock in the middle of the ocean
I couldn’t see in front of me
I couldn’t breathe at all
And there was certainly no hope left for me

But suddenly my body just understood
My body started doing all of the work
I pushed and pushed

Till all the sudden my head popped up
like a seashell in the ocean
The worst was over

Yet it really wasn’t
At any second it could all go wrong
My body could give out
I could just give up

All I could do was try to stay ahead
For I feared that, if I moved
It would all just suddenly be over

My head above the water
I moved my arms in unfamiliar patterns
Too scared to stop what I had been doing

Then my friend came rushing in
Helping to save my life
As she pulled me out of that moment
And back into the reality that was mine
