The Killer Virus

Niti Bedi 1970 (Dehradun)

The nostalgic spring air of the year 20/20
Intoxicating enough to put you in a stupor..
The cosy Sun enveloping everyone in laziness..
The twittering birds and humming bees..
The cascading rivers and silvery brooks..
Filling music and tunes in the air..
The cool breeze ruffling the ebony hair..
Toned bronze skin reflecting back..
The dew kissed emerald green grass..
All set to welcome the virgin dawn..
Alas! News of a virus in the air..
Put an end to the spring gaiety..
Headache, fever, breathing problems..
Gripping people around the globe.
Through touch and vapours in the air..
Infection is scattered everywhere..
The smoothly running life came to a standstill..
At the outbreak of a deadly killer virus..
Attacking gullible people unawares..
Soon it spread it's wicked wings...
Engulfing the entire human existence..
People panicked as many lost the battle..
A pandemic declared far and wide..
The mightiest countries worldwide..
Bowed in front of the killer contagion..
An unseen enemy out to contaminate all..
A cold spine chilling silence across the globe..
With wailing kin mourning their deceased..
The deserted corpses laying piled up..
Awaiting an honestly respectable funeral..
As a final adieu by dear loved ones..
Oh! What a drastic turn life has taken ..
With mankind rendered so helpless..
Funeral is now a government role..
Nothing seems to work as of now..
Except social distancing and lockdowns..
Set to curb the speed of the spread..
Scientists working on day and night..
To get a Corona breakthrough cure..
Doctors and nurses toiling round the clock..
With the angelic warriors risking self..
To save all battling for their precious lives..

About this poem

The poem is about the deadly virus that took the entire world in its wicked, merciless grip at the end of the year 2019 within a span of a few months the entire humanity was at its mercy. I have tried to bring out the agony that mankind had to bear kneeling down in front of a monstrous invisible enemy that was gulping down the human existence mercilessly in the form of the dreaded Corona!

I believe in Karma and The Supreme power that governs the Universe. I a human being who believes in loving the entire creation of GOD! I believe humanity should be our foremost virtue. We are just care takers of this beautiful planet but we forget this fact and try to be the owners of this green world. Humbleness is the key to enjoy the bliss! That is eager to pour out from the depths of our hearts with every kind gesture it sprouts ...just try bringing joy to others for once to feel the endless joy.. I hail from India yes, I am a proud Indian who dearly loves her Mother land. It is in its peaceful and secure lap that I love to sit down in the stillness of the pacifying night to catch the beautiful pearly words scattered all around in the lush emerald green nature to form a string of captivating poetry..I am Niti Bedi.. more…
