Swinging

Swinging
Back and forward
Up and down.
Sometimes side to side.

The wind sweeping my hair aside.
I let my mind wander across the countryside.
Swinging gives me joy,
Something I can’t explain.

On the way up I touch the moon
And see where the blue jays fly.
I love to see the sunset linger across the night sky.

Some things like these never last,
You’ll have to go back down.
But on the way back up again
I find my long lost smile.

About this poem

I had read the poem, "The Swing", by Robert Louis Stevenson which reminded me of my love of swinging.
