RIP Your Majesty.
Sad news has come from the Palace
Our Queen's life has ended this day.
History records the end of her reign,
A nation in mourning; we pray.

She devoted her life to her people,
Total commitment for life,
A Queen of the people, we loved her
Grandmother, mother and wife.

Known for her wisdom and humour
Her patience and kindness shone through.
A lifetime committed to service.
A heart that was loyal and true.

Seventy years as the monarch.
The only Queen I’ve ever known.
Rest in peace now your majesty
We welcome King Charles to the throne.
RIP.

About this poem

This poem was written on the day Queen Elizabeth II died, ten minutes after the announcement was made by the palace. The whole nation was in shock.
