MY FRIEND'S GARDEN IN THE EAST

BIJU.S 1976 (ALLEPPEY)

My Friend's garden in the East.
Poem written by BIJU.S , Kerala

My friend had a beautiful garden on the east side.
full of flowers of many colours.
There were yellow and red roses and fragrant jasmine flowers
Nath was the owner of the garden and Lal was the caretaker of the garden.
Many kinds of vegetables were near the garden.
Then there was a vast paddy field and a wheat field near the garden.

Birds used to come to the garden with songs
And beautiful songs turned the buds into flowers
The baby squirrels jumped with joy on the branches of the gooseberry tree after hearing the song
Was also resting on the branches of the jackfruit tree
Every day the boss,Nath had happily visited the garden.
He had not gone to sleep without the fragrance of the garden.
He loved the garden as much as he loved the man.
Nath, who loved nature, one day disappeared from the earth
And became a star in heaven.
The star, the soul of Nath used to shine in the garden and smell the fragrance of flowers daily now.
The poet used to sit near the wheat field and smile at the star every day.

He thinks about his Friend who
Used to visit garden always

The flowers, the vegetables and the grandson

Are still smiling and looking at the star that appears in the sky.

Yes always Nath is fragrant like flower

And luminant like Star.
