In my head

kaycee M 2003 (Pietermaritzburg)

Am I self-conscious,
Or am too I self aware,
With my heart I'm always cautious,
I never let anyone see me bare.

To hide the pain I chose not to speak
Head held up high, just soldier on ,
But never let yourself reach the peak
Because no one ever really cares as much as they let on

Red paintings on a delicate canvas
Drawn with sharp brushes,
Each stroke piercing the hollow emptiness
A horrid image was created,
And the hope of my happiness was drowned in an abyss

Let me go,
Let me breath,
I want to live,
I want to be happy,
I want to be free.
