Ignorance, Folly or both

Ignorance, Folly or both
        By Soseipiriala Humble

Looking back
I remember the hard stares,
Deep thoughts, wistful beliefs
That I, my fathers child
Had engraved in my mind
Wishing for Adulthood;
My eyes held images,
Pertaining to beauty and life
My lips spoke of love and light,
My tongue tasted the good,
My heart trembled in ecstasy
at the imagination of freedom

20 years down,
I see life face-to-face
The struggle and hustle
reminds me,
“All that glitters, is truly not gold”
Wide open are my ears
to clear rumblings of the wind
Blurry are the images once held
The fresh air I once breathe
Is all but, dust and soot
I should ask my fault
But I know,
 it’s Ignorance,Folly or both
