If Tomorrow Never Comes -(Dear Me)

Taryn DeWalt 1985 (Ssskatoon)

Ode

Dear - Me,

Emotions bottled, sealed up tight
where no one else can see
Wasted hope and shattered dreams
reside inside of me
Blinded by the painful tears
haunted by my sorrow
Scared to look ahead in life
I’m frightened of tomorrow
I care about what others think
I’m ashamed of my reflection
I don’t know how to be myself
I’m haunted by rejection
I created a world just for me
hidden in my mind
A place where I can open up
and leave the pain behind
I’ve lost my mind and my pride
Some things I cant explain
Like why I feel the way I do
I think I’ve gone insane
All along you were in front of me
With arms spread open wide
Asking me to love you too
To hold you when you cried
I took advantage of your true love
Scared that you would break my heart
I let my mind play tricks on me
And watched us drift apart
Perhaps tomorrow never comes
There is just one thing left to say
You’re the best thing that has happened to me
You made me who I am today
You made me want to break that bottle
And throw away the key
And try to be a better person
For the sake of you and me.

                                 Love- You!

About this poem

this is a self reflection piece that i wrote about my own life and mental health throughout young adult and throughout adult life. It is at the end do I realize that I am my own worst enemy because I let myself get lost in your own self conscience and mind
