If Only I Could Put It Right

Liz Collins 1948 (Birmingham)

If Only I Could Put It Right.

What’s going on inside my head.
Is it fogging? I’m not so sure.
When names escape me and words forgotten.
Did that make sense what I’ve just said?

If only I could put it right.
The way my muscles get so tight.
The twitching and the funny walk.
It even affects the way I talk.

if only I could put it right.
If sleep right through till it was light.
It’s hard keeping still whilst doing medication.
My body’s like a train whizzing through the station.

If only I could put it right
The way my writing gets so small.
It starts of neat and ends up scrawl .
Hard for anyone to read at all.

If Only I could put it right.
To be able to turn in bed at night.
It’s like a military operation is taking place.
Once more my spouse received a hit to face.

If only I could put it right.
Those times of feeling out of control.
When things are dropped and drinks are spilt
I am thankful for who ever invented the paper roll.

If only I could put it right
I’d shout hip hip Hooray
But life’s to short for wishing for things that may not happen.
So I’ll be content and make the most of every day.
