I dare not ask

I dare not ask

Shall I wait for you or not?
I dare not ask myself
I'm afraid the answer might break my heart

You say we should take things slow
In this changing world
How long will it take
To finally meet the right one

I promised to never think of you
But my heart persuades me not to
I promised not to love you

Well, my heart refuses to give up on you
But I'm scared to eventually be a loser
A loser in this game or love and to bear the shame

The shame of defeat, so I must give up on us
And forget that we once loved each other
But we lacked patience and care

Crying alone in the dark
Wishing I'd never met you so I won't feel the pain
The pain of losing you and to finally let go

Perhaps we're not destined to be together
And so we must part ways
Goodbye my love, wishing you all the best
As I endure a future without you.
