Farewell

Not everyone finds a friend
Not everyone has a father
And though I'm left to wonder,
If the strength you've untamed will suffice,
I still somehow crumble inside at the thought of your absence

Not that it's coming by surprise,
It's just funny how fast our time passed
Reminded of the stumbles and struggles,
It created an exceptional memory lane
Not looking back to regrets but forward to change

My defenses are broken if you know what I'm saying
Still I'm happy to say, I don't feel defeated
I guess I needed reassembling
You made an impossible dream a possible reality
Sadly, all that's left to say is my agony driven farewell

About this poem

I wrote this poem for my pastor who was more of a friend to me. He'd been transferred to a new denomination and though I knew he had to go, it didn't stop me from missing him
