Dear Life

Dear Life

When you turn up the heat...
Think I'll give in to defeat...
Run and hide in the backseat?
I'll let you in on a secret...
I won't deny that by you I've been humbled,
There were times when I fumbled but I said I'll let you in on a secret...I will never crumble.

As you become Goliath I'll be David.
When you shake me up I'll shake it off and wipe your smirk off because even if I'm jaded just know that I was not created to be degraded.

I'll give it to you,
I've had my ups and downs.
A fair share of my breakdowns.
Came close to shut downs...feeling like you were a big old pool and I slowly drowned...desperately seeking for a lifeline to be thrown but jokes on me cause there was no one there I was alone...
And you had your big laugh well tough cause I'm still here...and if you like I could give you my autograph and a photograph to see and be reminded that I'm a different breed...won't fall for your schemes.
I'll continue to stand tall, won't fall like those heroes in movie scenes.

You talk a big game,
Attempt to light me up in flames
But that's so lame cause in the end victory is mine to claim.

So dear life...
Give it your all and let's see if I fall and crawl, begging for mercy cause you're known to play dirty.
Let's see if cry my eyes dry and become shy to reply to you...
Let's see if I become so frightened of you that I can't even push through even though I once stood in a 3 hour queue.

Dear life...
I'm a different breed,
Won't deny it cause I know I may bleed and get frustrated by a stampede but don't you ever...for a second...think that I...won't proceed to succeed.

About this poem

This is one of those poems written in the AMs when life hits hard and insomnia has paid a visit. And all you can do is just write to be at ease before the mind drifts off to places loved and those unpleasant. It is my reminder to pick myself up and dust myself off when life hits.
