Apple Scented Shampoo
the air had never scented so pure before.
her limbs touched the ground hardly
as her body heaved and swayed against the breeze
perspiration rollin from her body,
her feet numb with fatigue
but she never stopped for another break.
she'd waited for too long, and life
had thrown her the consequence
now no longer was she that harmless child
who kept her emotions closeted.
twisting the silver door knob,
let the spirals of crystal shoot into her skin
leaving behind a warmth
the warmth- that she had never felt before.
the scent of the apple scented shampoo,
the freshness that embarked her mind
into a world where all colours existed
a world beyond just black and white.
poking the bubbles to burst
fleeting an amicable sensation down her spine
why- had she not showered in this tiny bathroom
then why had she never felt like this before?
the light of the tube light,
the sun kissed shine of the froth
the scent of familiarity but non familiarity at once.
had it been right for her to do
what she'd never done before?
was it a crime to rise up again
when you'd been slashed and slapped
and corseted into the mud for years abound
so this time she rose back
for the mud who'd been her grave, was actually the grace
that gave her the strength to turn around.
and now it was no turning back
no matter what they said
she didn't have to be the good girl
she just had to be ... herself.
About this poem
Have you broken down under the shower after a hard day? After escaping a bad romance, a toxic partner, a tough meeting at work where you had to put up a tough face when your insides were crumbling? Apple Scented Shampoo is about rising up again. Its about finding your strengths and going overboard.
