The Way We Dance

You touched me in places I didn’t even know existed
You held my hand and with it my heart
You called me baby like we’ve been together before today
You loved me in the same way that no one ever has
Your fingertips dance on my smooth skin
like you are Beethoven and I, am your piano keys
My name on your lips sounds like the song of a thousand birds
so beautiful.
Your eyes, hold me so captivated,
like you tell me your entire life story with only a look and
only then do I understand the pain you’ve gone through and the love you’ve given me
With the roll of your tongue you dance,
as if you are 1000 butterflies being released by your cocoon.
You give me just a look and I know to act better,
to be better because for you,
I would become the most amazing woman because I know that is what you deserve.
The world is in your hands, my world at least.
You could crumble me the same way you crumble chips over a homemade dip, I am so fragile.
Or you could lift me,
the way you do when your eyes light up every time you tell me you love me.
My entire life I’ve felt like I was just a pit stop but with you,
I feel like I am home.
