POETRY DAY?

I was told that today is the day
On which poets use to call their muse.
I wondered then what I should say:
To give some verses or refuse;
I pondered if it would even pay.

I heard today we cherish verse
That we celebrate doing poetry.
It sounded odd and well, perverse
It's not as if it is pottery
Or the workaday way we converse.

I think a poet's as a poet does
And poetry doesn't have to wait
Are the other days then for base prose
What if my muse today is late,
Or just decides to thumb her nose?

I believe all days are poetic
You just have to look and you will see
From pious thoughts to the erotic
All are good fodder for poesy
Cherish it every tock and every tick.

But I guess today's a date to match
The unique beauty of poetry.
Spring's beginning is very much
Suited for such anniversary.
So yeah, why not 21st of March.
