We Are Falling Apart

Renee Brodwith 1958 (NEW YORK)

Ode

We are falling apart
I thought that we had something special from the start
Shattering like glass is my broken heart
Memories of you will never fade away
Still love you, still need you, still want you everyday

All the things I wanted to say but couldn't
Said all the wrong things, know that I shouldn't

Those words you spoke to me were not the words that I wanted to hear
Those words that were my greatest fear
Words that sounded to me like you were saying goodbye
All I wanted to do was break down and cry

Don't know when I'll see you again
Wondering did I lose my lover and my best friend

About this poem

Many years ago I fell in love with a man who was very charming, loving and kind. We broke up after four years of being together. I was broken hearted
