I am Beaten

I am Beaten

I am beaten and robbed severally
With local and modern sticks
Bruised to comatose rigors
So painful, so excruciatingly
Devastating

Tears would have been an ease
To offload the ocean of bloods
Clustered in my heart, unease
Over the years

But no. They told me not to cry
Threatened my life, if I do try
For I have not exploded truly
Remains a mystery
To be told in centuries

You have overpowered me
Yes. You have beaten me, yes.
But asking me not to cry
Is like casting me into an inferno

I wish I can make it echo
Loud into infinitude
But no, I have lost it several times
My strength has eluded me

Still, still I nix to throw out
I hold on
The thunderous-silent voice of my mind
Breaks all and just but all
Time.

About this poem

The poem resonates the voice of hope of a citizen who has continuously been attacked unabated and feels crying out loud would be a relief hence the government is also indifferent about his woes. The citizen feels he must be powerless but telling him not to cry amounts to sinister on his psyche and wish his voice reaches his creator and if it doesn't, then his hope again lies in time that heals everything!
