When the day of toil is done

Days and moments quickly flying,
Blend the living with the dead.
Soon our bodies will be lying;
Each within its narrow bed.
When the day of toil is done,
Father, grant thy wearied one
When the darkness melts away,
At the breaking of the day,
Bid us hail the cheering ray
light forever more.
Comfort the agitated hearts
Now that the battle day is past
Calmly now the words we say;
Left behind, we wait in trust,
For the resurrection day.

About this poem

The poem is simply about how humans tend to leave the world (die) quickly. And the hopes we have to meet our departed loved ones on the resurrection day.
