The window I love

THE WINDOW I LOVE

Oh! I can see the beauties of the world
‘My eyes’, ‘my love’
A small window, yet larger than a door
Small but mighty indeed
The precious gift of sight
Creation is divine
Oh! the window I love
Love for you, is far too negligible
The window that opens the minds of men
Without you, other doors are closed
To cope without this ‘love’ is still divine
How I cherish ‘my love’
The beauties of the world is in this window
All thanks to God for this ‘small large’ window
Love your eyes because I love mine!

About this poem

This poem explains the precious gift of sight and why one needs to care and love his/her eyes. Loving the eyes include going for regular eye examination, staying away from accidents which may cause injury to the eyes etc., because the eye is the window of the body through which the beauties of the world are seen. I wrote this poem to mark ‘World Sight Day’ in 2021 with the caption, ‘love your eyes’.

I’m an optometrist, but the passion for creativity inspired me to write. I needed to put my feelings, people’s feelings, perception and the world around us; as a whole into writing. I started writing poems in 2020, and had written over forty poems in different genres. I chose the name ‘Nicky Xtian” for my poems more…
