The Goodbye Prayer

The Goodbye Prayer

My eyes are closed and all I see Is white and ivory Dancing before me. Petals of red drizzle slowly upon me, I open my eyes and there you are. Smiling, so beautifully. I look into those eyes but I do not see me.

I panic as my beating heart no longer plays our song, nor does the heat love keep me warm. Why, why, why… I scream, I scream, I scream out loud, but there is no sound.

Swirling winds and passionate gusts engulf me. I touch my cheek, and there, in that moment a single tear shakes me out of my crazy haze. It dawns on me, that you are in me but I am no longer in you.

The waves of sorrow toss me like a piece of old debris, resurrected by the changing seas. I inhale and close my eyes slowly and it is there, only there do I see white and ivory, and so the hail of red petals cover me for it is here, I remain, always and forever with your beautiful face smiling only for me.

Goodbye.
