The Boy I Used To Know

The Boy I Used To Know

Are you the boy I used to know
Before you felt you had to go
You were my life for so long
To me you were like a beautiful song
Now you have a family of your own
Flesh of your flesh, bone of your bone
My dream for you is that you will be
The best husband and father anyone will ever see
That you’ll serve the Lord with all of your heart
Until He says, “It’s time to part”

I love you more than you could ever know
And I don’t ever want to put on a show
Teach your children all you’ve learned
And that the gospel is not to be spurned
Time goes by so fast as you’ll see
Before you know it they’ll be gone…..all three
You’ll wonder where the time has gone
And wish that you could write a song
About all the days you had together
And the time that floated by like a feather

So make the best of the time you have
The Word of God is a wonderful salve
When you need wisdom or want to know
It is the only place to go
Don’t waste the gift that you’ve been given
And spend your time just makin’ a livin’
He has much for you to do
He gave you a gift that’s only in you
I wait for the day when it’s manifest
And I know that you will give it your best

                                            ………………..Love Mom
