Salt

I cannot with my crippled fingers paint the sky with all its tears
I cannot with these trembling arms hide insecurity in the mirrors
I cannot with these broken legs walk the distance that it takes
To get to love, to hope, to you - wherever that safe place is
And somehow you still love me
Somehow you seem to care
And though I want to say I love you, you see, it would be unfair
Because you deserve so much more than I am or ever could be
Because you’re a faceted jewel in the rough
And I’m a grain of salt to the sea
