My mom said...

My mom - she said life was all joy
And when in sorrow - to find a reason to smile
Because it would not stay that way forever
And things do change after a mile
To sail through, no matter how dark it seemed
And to pass every milestone with equanimity
To treat every new low as a passing phase
As surely, there wasn’t enough room for self pity
Success was temporal- she said
And so was failure, no matter what each’s share
Coz when time was nigh all that mattered
Was how well you stand up and fare
She said to persevere at it, until you receive
To be a better version of your yesterday
To value time and everything you do
And your childhood dreams never to betray
Everything happens for a reason she said
And to be grateful for all you have got
The struggles and pain that we endure
Over something menial was indeed quite a lot
So be happy for each day, as she said
You never know if you would last the next bright morn
Be the light in someone’s life
And the most wonderful soul ever born
