Mediocrity

I'm no artist with words
I'm no artist with colours
I'm no artist with my hands and feet
For what I want to say
I have no doorway of expression
No window of release
I belong only to mediocrity.

I wish to fight the war,
But I have no fire
I wish to dance exquisitely
But I have no rhythm
I wish to immortalize the beauty around me
But my fingers falter helplessly

I'm but a spectator of those who can
Me, like many others.
We, the victims of mediocrity.
For if all have voice, it'll be too loud
So some mouths, indeed, must be sown shut
Us, the ones chosen for mediocrity

About this poem

We all feel inadequate at some point in life. We aren't all pioneers or ace athletes or prodigies. We probably don't even top our respective fields. But that's okay. This mediocrity is what makes the human race.
