Inevitable

                                 inevitable

its a river,
an unstoppable force;
uncontrollable in strength, and
unyielding in its pursuit of eternal life
in the ocean of shining stars.

housed in her gut, her heart, her ribs,
it plays a game of push and pull;
muffled roars and muted growls,
a deep ache settles—
bones throbbing with a want of relief.

afternoon shivers and silent sighs,
her very soul shudders.
like chains rattling in the dark, the
madness within shakes, wanting out.
so, with ink staining her fingers,
she unleashes it.

About this poem

Inspired by Charles Bukowski's "So You Wanna Be a Writer", my poem "Inevitable" is trying to express that creativity in a person cannot be chained for too long; it stubbornly finds it's way out somehow. Once a person has realised the power of their imagination and originality, the flow of creativity becomes inevitable.
