HEYNA

GAGANAN A 1966 (CALICUT, KERALA)

Once rare heinous creatures—
The hyenas in both breeds are now galore
In religious and political robes they roam about
Preying upon the naïve and credulous.
The Dark Age is over!
Adaptations -- the name of the game
These Nocturnals start loitering in day light
And managing their ghastly howling laugh
Start preaching pleasing diurnal sermons
Or promising all earthly comforts.
Still they dwell on nasty old left-out things.
You are what you eat- as goes the saying.
Come out Instinctively their true colours
Words of scavengers slip out of their sturdy jaws-
 the victims-to-be scared of
These nyctophiles are shrewd and like jackals
Often double-cross their adversaries and the gullible
Who never pass these deeds
For servitude is their way and obedience is their style.
Thus
It becomes a question of survival for both-
The predators and victims.
