GLORY DAYS

wanjau 1996 (Nairobi)

take me back,
to the days i whispered to the rain,
quench my thirst, the earth has never been this dry,
I miss the waters, maybe I came to the well late,
after every visit, you leave my heart with hate,
oasis of truth, an aquifer of youth,
streaming life, now gazing at my dying mood,
to you, the well that gave me hope,
deeper are now your waters, echoes of dying tales...
