Death

Crying filled the air
It was as though i could feel darkness loom
My mother lay amongst the crowd crying      Her appearance looking upheaval
I crawled toward her and suckled with reckless abandon on her exposed bosom
Many hands strived to carry me away
They moved their heads as though in dismay
I could hear my mum weeping silently and my father on the ground looked rather helpless as the men took him away
I was yet to comprehend
As i looked up wondering what could be the hitch that make my home look like a mad house
With women running around with their ill fitted clothes clearing running tears from my mums face
Was she sick?
Was she in need of money ?
Why was my father who was always so close to her being led away
Why didn’t he turn back to give me his regular wave
All these questions tormented me as i sat in my safe space
Contemplating  on what had gone wrong
A neighbor gave me a biscuit and offered me some change
Another gave me some candy and offered me her prayers
One by one they all had a thing to say
Till they left my home and i had my mother to my self
Walking as one in pains
She held me close to her heart and prayed
And as a tear drop fell on my laps
She whispered words i had never heard being said
Your Father Is Gone and Dead
She cried more and more
I stood up and walked a little distance gazing up to the sky as it begun to drizzle i begun a strange dance that even i knew nothing of
A dance of pain and anguish
As the thoughts of my father I’d never get to see again filled my heart
He was really gone and no more
Death had struck a blow on a young boys heart
