"THE WOMAN IN HER"
Her birth divinity,
surrounded by anxiety
and reality of ability
in unity of serenity.
The vitality of her mentality
and sanity of her quality.
The capability of her ambiguity
brought clarity to her personality.
The simplicity of her distensibility,
an entity to nobility
paving for incredibility.
But her society ...
shunned her with trepidity,
tamed the propensity of her decency
and devoured it with vanity,
causing calamity to her dignity.
Her tenacity and intrepidity,
decided her personality
conforming with her responsibility,
blessed with sensibility.
And here she is ...
A rare gem,
who is held responsible
for her own actions
without regret.
A great woman,
Character of fidelity.
About this poem
Olasehinde Success " THE WOMAN IN HER" is didactic in nature as it succinctly reveals the social life of an unnamed woman. The poem begins from the natal stage of the character up to her realization of abilities; obviously the stage from childhood to adulthood. The unnamed character was vital, noble and brainy enough, even her personality defined her. The poet reveals this truth by explaining her personality in the second and third stanza. Also, the poet emphasized on the lackadaisical attitude of the society towards the unnamed character; how she was treated and how her dignity was destroyed. Thus, the primary message that this poem intends to convey is the ability of a woman, the one who she is and what she possesses as an adult female human. The poet also condemns the act of the society showing no vigor to the pains of the feminine therefore making the poem easy and to relate with in this 21st century. more »
