Tormented Fate
Darlene Wynter 1985 (NSW)
My self-sacrifice is causing chaos within.
Suffocating with good intentions.
Whilst keeping myself restrained.
Using distraction to stop thinking of him.
Mentally, emotionally I’m becoming exhausted.
Conflicted storm swirling within me.
Do not tell me you understand.
Tormented feelings from the heart to the head.
I try to compartmentalize that I like him.
Respecting that he values friends.
Friendships are worth sacrificing for.
Wishing I could be stronger at locking it in
Instant attraction isn’t a normal thing for me.
Feelings need to build for months or years.
Fates always throw me wicked curveballs.
I know though, that this is how it's meant to be.
Although my heart is left craving for more.
I’ll accept this disappointment confidently.
Never did like overstepping boundaries.
If it truly comes to it, I’ll show myself the door.
About this poem
I wrote this to get it off my chest mostly. It is about liking someone deeper than I expected and trying to battle that whilst keeping a friendship with him because he is worth having as a friend, yet not at the cost of my sanity so I will walk away if it comes to it.
