When the smoke clears

When the smoke clears,
I’ll remember why free falling is so scary because you fall and then the impact

When the smoke clears I’ll remember why I guarded my heart because the last heartbreaks were still trying to find their way back,

When the smoke clears my intuition will remind me of her presence and say I told you so!

When the smoke clears, love will tell me it never came to stay, and that if I took it for what it’s really worth, I’d always be hurt,

When the smoke clears, I’ll look back and realize that time did not wait nor did it care to give me back what I’ve invested

When the smoke clears, I’ll be sure to remember what it felt like when pain stayed too long and tears created silent tsunami’s that left a devastating aftermath,

When the smoke clears, I’ll dust myself off!

About this poem

I found myself in a place mentally loving someone that was not true to me or himself. His actions left me heartbroken, but I made it out when the smoke cleared.
