The Dancers

Each night as I would close my eyes to sleep,
while skies are slowly darkening...

There is a longing I might see
my dancing friends that
come to visit me.

Throughout the night, until the dawn arrives,
and nighttime dies...they dance on
tippy-toes, in dresses of fine lace,
the colors black and white.

Their bodies lithe, as they do
sweep across the moonlit sky,
like flower petals, they float with
graceful moves, so way up high.

I do so love to see those fairies dance,
in only just by chance,

                   Because!

They fill my night with joy,
they make me smile, in sheer delight,
they are a pretty sight...
if only for a little while.

About this poem

I love to dance, and the idea of dancing fairies visiting me during the night, in a dream, is very possible...and so this was a very enjoyable poem to write.
