Perfidiousness

Nichola "Nicki" Topolnicki 1972 (Colorado Springs, Colorado)

July 22

I had joy when I alluded to you…
No one was in accordance with you like I am…(was?)
No one has been so besotted…like I am…

Teasing…
Taunting…
Badgering…
Plaguing…
Tormenting…
I took it all---in defense of you
My love for you…

Standing with my shield…sword in hand…
Over battle I went for you…
For years I did…
Why didn’t I go
To find you…to make you see…to know…

So generous you are to this world
So kind you are to others
Would you be that way for me…

Too many through the years have had
Treacherous fists on my pain
Violently beating my love…my spark…
Will I ever hear you talk just for me, say my name…
See me and say…
Will it be vervacious…or will it culminate
In your perfidiousness…

About this poem

This poem is about being so infatuated with someone (or completely overcome with a celebrity) knowing that your feelings wouldn't be returned. Knowing that if feelings were allowed, total encompassing betrayal is coming. Also, when you are infatuated with someone, for example, a celebrity, you defend your "love" for this person, whoever it may be.
