In an African Future

In an African Future
A smile on that one child that represents all of Africa
Death to the dictator,
freedom to all who love, and want to be loved
Mental autonomy,
This is how depression and anxiety looked like

I envision Africa
Represented by a skyscraper and a white coat
Less of Madonna's adoption
Less of social aids from the west
An Africa, that feeds her children and not just the elected heads

An Africa,
where my love for Kudzai and Thabang is as welcome
As my love for Uwimana and Effia, I am a man after all
Equality is not just a dream

An Africa unchained
An Africa where lions and Tigers cry,
Just as Lioness and Tigress
An Africa where lions are raising cubs, a family setup
An Africa whose strengths lie not in their fists but in cerebral fortitude

About this poem

This poem describes an Africa that I would like to see, an Africa with a strong civilization, an Africa that takes care of her children, an Africa with innovative ideas, an Africa where all love is valid and an Africa where fathers protect their women and children

Tumelo Tau

Tumelo Tau from Pretoria in South Africa, I started writing poetry in 2007 in school as a way to improve my vocabulary. Poetry became a sport or a hobby, that I could always run to whenever I needed an outlet and it continues to this day. In 2021 my friend and I published an anthology titled Revelations Of Genesis, it contains 20 of my poems and 20 of his poems (if interested to read email me on tautumelo201@gmail.com). more…
