I stsred at his corpse

I Stared At His Corspe

I stared at his corpse
He was lying there motionless
My heart was busy being reaped
I did not cry
I hardly cry in front of people
However, I wish I could wake him up
"Wake up dad"
I wanted to say

I wanted him to come back
To fix his many mistakes
I wanted him to come back
To say his apologies
I wanted him to come back
To give me the hugs
He failed to give
The kisses he could not give
Because his anger took a hold of him

I stared at his corpse
Wishing I, his daughter
Could wake him up
I smiled
While inside
The thought of him being forever gone
Was reaping my heart apart
I smiled
I did not cry
I hardly cry in front of people
However, inside I was screaming
Wishing I could wake him up
Wishing I could bring him back to life

I wanted him back
To hug him tightly
Maybe my tight hugs
Could've made him a better dad, a better husband
I wanted him back
To kiss him softly
Maybe my soft kisses
Could've softened his anger
I wanted him back
To speak kind words to him
Maybe my kind words
Could've brought him closer to God

I stared at his corpse
And I realised
That he was no longer
Coming back
