I Can Change the World

I am light and happy
I wonder how I can help
Others who pain and sorrow
I hear their cries
The sorrow radiating from them
I see they need help
Need comfort and love
I want them to feel what I feel
The joy and happiness
I am the one who will help them
Help them see the light

I pretend I am strong
Helping them bravely
I feel there needs to be a change
A change in the world
I touch them in an embrace
Comforting them every step
I worry they will need more help
Not just me but you too
I cry for them daily
Weep for them
I am ready to help

I understand that I alone
Can’t change it all
I say, “they need help.
Don’t you see the struggle.”
I dream of them happy
Happy and hopeful
I hope it will happen
I am going to help

I know that it is hard
Hard for them to live
I tell others of their struggles
I raise awareness for them
For their suffering
I can change the world
Change it by helping those thousands
Those thousands of people in need

About this poem

I wrote this poem to encompass the human desire for a better world. No matter how small the change it still makes a difference.
