Blisters

Paige Bishop 1998 (Illinois)

If you walk in another’s shoes,
Your feet are sure to blister.
If you wear another’s shirt,
It may not fit right.
So why do we care so much about being right?
My right is your wrong,
My wrong is your right.
But there cannot be a winner,
If humans do not have rights.
Open your eyes and see the bigger picture,
It does not matter if they are a Ms. or a Mr.
It does not matter if they are straight or gay.
It does not matter if you have a gun,
And it does not matter if you pray.
The world will soon eat us all up,
As we lie dead in our graves.

How will you live your life?
Make your judgements and place your blame?
Or will you realize that we are not all the same, and that is okay.
So go ahead,
Pick a pair and wear them.
See what it is like in another’s shoes.
And then tell me how much it matters to you now, if you “win” or “lose”.
