Because I am a South Asian Woman

Because I'm a South Asian Woman

I go to bed again 'n again
to escape myself from the reminiscence of that an unlucky hour.
Because I'm a South Asian Woman
So, i have to answer all
Why I'm not behaving well
Without letting my tears down
Without letting the throbbing of my heart make a sound,
By giving my tears a way to heart
By wrapping my wounds into the heavy shield of hollow laugh
Yes, i cannot pour my heart out
And i have to stay Restrained.
Because I'm a South Asian Woman

About this poem

This poem basically reflects how South Asian women have to suffer silently. They cannot mourn over the sufferings openly. They have to wrap themselves in a cover of hollow laugh to hide their pain.
