Struggles of a Father

Everyday I wake up with the same chip up on my shoulder
Can growing grass and blowing glass push my children over
Where I've been at and what I've done the struggle's always real
Never tryin' to show the face of a parent needing to steal

Growing up with fam around droppin' like flies
From things like heroin shot straight to there thighs
With suicide and murder rates always on the rise
When will people finally fill the holes that pull their insides

Through the many trails of life I still manage to get older
But with the years and rivers of tears the struggle's never been more polar
I feel the weight above my head and all throughout my nerves
But as a father I must not bother with those who just want to be heard

Every solid parent wants better for there child
Not the same struggles that hit us through our trials
If at least one could stick a life more straight then mine is
Then there's hope that they could cope with a poverty stricken childhood

Can they strive for the future not lookin' towards the past
Even though it's rough at times the worst will always pass
The road in life is full of turns but continue to go forward
Keep on your chosen path and you're sure to be rewarded
