Living by the past

Clinton Matemba 2002 (Lilongwe)

LIVING BY THE PAST

She is the cheated sheep
The being whose skips a beat
Its beyond reasoning surface
Her conscience desires a move on
But denial knocks with force

The lamb landed innocently
Calling for affection depth
She gave it a warm welcoming
Little did she know that
It was the devil in human coat

She isn’t the one to censure
As the locals utter
“chidamuluma chakuda”
Her body is willing for retouch
But her spirit pulls her aside

It never left completely
Some threads of the story
Got stuck at the back of the head
Right inside the memory pack

They came and go
Honest creatures carrying love
When she tries to dives
Thy past knocks her memories

So don’t point her selfish
Nor hate her heavy thinking
It’s the earlier deceit
That holds her wish to step
She still lives with the past
