TWO YEARS OF HER SLUMBER

Two years of her slumber

Bonnie passed away this month of July
In the year of Twenty Twenty
I had lost my daughter to eternity
That July sky was overcast
It was damp, humid and steadfast

Today we have gathered to give her
Our love and respects
Leaves above begin to stir
Where she is lying beneath, under the soil
Here  she was rested for ever
Birds above her are soaring over
Since two years ago in Twenty Twenty
She has laid her head down here for ever

The sky above us this July
Is strangely reminiscent
Of that overcast past sky
Whilst Bonnie is lying
In eternal sleep underneath
Resigned and no more crying
Peace be with her
Always and forever and ever

We have come here at Kemnal
This corner of suburban England
Where she has been in eternal slumber
For two years since Twenty Twenty
And our lives have been torn asunder

Now we lay her epitaph
A loving memorial plaque
Her headstone will be a bond
Between her and her visitors
With love for her abound

This suburban corner of England
Her forever resting abode in Kemnal
But wherever we are in the world
We will forever be closer to her
Reaching out always and forever
From our realm
To her sacred domain

The sky overhead is overcast
Black clouds are clamouring
Imminent rains will drench the perched soil
Where she is rested underneath
She will never hear us again when we say
Bonnie , you are so precious to us
We will love you for ever and ever’
