O Rats

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

The best made plans of mice and men
All come to nothing in the end

Unless the Son calls you his friend
You’ll have no treasures to defend

The windows to your heart and soul
Should not face toward a sinful world

You won’t enjoy the seven bowls
The wrath of God is not served cold

I do not want to serve, I must
It’s in the Sovereign Lord I trust
