JESUS KEEPS ME DRY

Heavy heart and bloodshot eyes.

Twighlight beg I death!

Surely God don’t call my bluff,

I sleep and hold my breath.

Dreams of Love’s intentions,

Euphoria to my soul.

Divinity as a blanket.

This moment I am whole.

Dashed to pieces rudely!

In hell I still awake!

Another day of torment!

More smiles I have to fake.

My insides thrash in anger!

From potions I have poured.

Demons swim inside me.

A deadly evil horde.

In good deeds I repent.

I sweat the fear away.

The devil taunts my efforts.

“Come back home and play”.

Like the sirens of Odyssues,

The bottle sings my song!

Pouring me upon the rocks,

The lure was just too strong!

And in that shattered state,

Lay I wasted many years.

Another moon, Another sun,

Consumed by all these tears.

And in that humbled moment.

I lashed out in defeat.

Life or death, it didn’t matter.

I knew that I’d been beat.

I closed my eyes in sorrow.

I bowed my head to pray.

“Im begging for a savior”

“I cannot find my way.”

That’s the day that saved me.

The Lord did heed my cry.

No longer do I swim with demons.

Jesus keeps me dry.
