I’m InaSNE

I’m InaSNE

I live in a way, that nobody understands,
Sometimes not even myself

I walk to blend in
In hopes they don’t notice
My eyes are more than brown

I speak the same way
I do the same things
But I know I don’t belong

It’s not them, it’s me
I’m insane, I think?
No one will understand

Good things can happen
But they look weird without color
Maybe it’s the way that I sleep

Sometimes I feel lonely
There’s nowhere to go
I think I might explode
People can’t help me
They try but they fail
It’s me, alone, by myself

I’m still nice to others
I believe in the world
I just look from the shadows instead

I do leave the dark
You’ll notice my flashes
But my mind is swirling around

I must of got lucky
My eyes are crooked
Maybe this time they helped

About this poem

As a child, I often found myself feeling misunderstood. When someone feels misunderstood, I feel like they can go two different directions. Some people blames themselves, and some blame the world. I think I blamed myself.

Guillermo Nájera

I’m 20 years old. I know this may not be an age that infers author credibility or experience, but nonetheless my age is my age. I’m from Miami, Florida. My father is Colombian and my mother is from Connecticut with an Italian heritage. My mother is an English teacher. Lastly, I’m not good with my feelings. Like many poets before me, I struggle with sharing my feelings with others. Writing is the only way I can figure out myself. more…
