Death is the Spark that Lights the Fire

And as they say, onto the next chapter
“Let’s clean up the mess”

I hope you died alright
And are showing your light
Wherever you are
But I hope your not far

What will it take to settle?
Listen for the whistle on the kettle
That will tell you it’s time
You’ve gotta let go
You’ve just gotta let go

And the hospital said, it’ll be a few weeks
It’s time to stop the all hiding and seeks

And they sheltered your shell
Sprayed on the dust of death with tin cans
Sprinkled on “sacred” water
Spread on a white cloth to cover your body

“She looks so good”
“I’m expecting her to just pop back to life”
Wondering how she could look “so good” when she’s gone
Maybe it was all that makeup drawn
Onto her face as people looked upon her

They all thought you were getting better
But I knew the truth
Even the strongest of us aren’t bullet proof
Thought it was expected, it still feels like your gone just like that

I mean who would have thought that the nurse would be right
Your future from then on wasn’t so bright

I hope that your home
That your free to roam

Sure your dead,
Now everyone’s claiming your stuff for their own
Their true agendas suddenly shown

And I’m wondering why people care about your stuff more than they ever cared about you

Seeing your body, not feeling sorrow or tears in my eye
But feeling confusion as to why
They try to piece the orange peel back into a sphere
The peel of the orange that’s already been eaten
The life that’s already been lived

Should I be glad you survived?
For as long as you did
“Now come on, let’s move on. How much for the bid?”
On your house full with memories
Hoping you’ll be remembered for centuries

At least you died in your sleep
Now it’s time for us to weep

Doing all I can to stop you from becoming a mere fading memory

With death, you notice life
And you notice the endless strife
The tension newly broken loose by the loss
Everyone just wondering the cost
Of how much it takes to get rid of your stuff
