Burning

For a while it was dark and gray
For the fire in me had died
There were no words I could say
To describe how the demons cried
Then a little flame sparked once more
'Twas not hope but rage
Depression fled frightened out the door
As I took the center stage
Every step I took held power
Yet I was always hungry for more
My gaze was fixed and would not cower
And my footsteps burnt the floor
I felt strength flowing through my veins
Eyes blazing with hate
My heart a pile of charred remains
Shoulders free of weight
I was once again a mighty queen
Blood boiling, anger churning
More a nightmare than a dream
And I realized: I was burning

About this poem

I wrote this poem while having a panic attack because I was really angry with my best friend.
